Philoptochos Society
The Theotokos
Our Family Helping Your Family
The Parish's Philoptochos is the philanthropic arm of the parish. Members of the Philoptochos are responsible for raising funds, maintaining communication with parish members, visiting the sick, and providing food to the needy, as well as helping in a large variety of activities within the parish, such as picnics, dinner dances, rummage sales, bake sales and special luncheons throughout the year. These activities allow the Philoptochos to perform its philanthropic functions while simultaneously providing parish community social activities.

Helping hands and hearts are needed and appreciated, for short projects or ongoing efforts. Whatever your skills may be, you can likely assist.
For more information, speak to any Philoptochos member or email philtophos@archangelmichaelgoc.org

Ongoing Philoptochos Efforts Include:
CASA Food Drive: CASA is the Citrus Abuse Shelter Association and represents one of the philanthropic causes undertaken by the Philotoptochos. Our Women's group is constantly accepting Food (non-perishable), paper goods, baby supplies etc. to assist CASA in its mission. Please help. If you would like any further information, please feel free to contact anyone of the Philoptochos Board Members.
Outreach to Parish Members: The Philoptochos is also very much involved through the Parish Outreach Ministry in creating work groups to assist the parish in maintaining active communication with all members of the parish family
Prosforo: The Philoptochos also sponsor the making of Prosforo should you wish to offer the bread and/or wine for Liturgy.
Koliva: The Philoptochos also sponsor the preparation of Koliva for a memorial you may wish to offer. If you would like this assistance, please download and follow the instructions on the Koliva Request Form
Coffee Hour: The Philoptochos is looking for volunteers to provide food and serve as host/hostess for this important social opportunity after Divine Liturgy each Sunday. Small snacks for approximately 40, that are inclusive of the fasting periods, are needed, along with making coffee, serving, and clean-up. Paper goods and cream will be provided by the Philoptochos. Everyone who attends the morning service is invited. We are an informal group and welcome all newcomers. Please feel welcome to join any table if you are not already planning to sit with a parishioner you have met. Every week, Father George can be seen circulating the tables to refill coffee cups.
